Since 2019, the Optilabs laboratory has established production facilities for Cast to Rx technology lenses in the cities of Warsaw and Rzeszów.
Thanks to this innovative solution, Optyk za corner will go down in the history of Optyka, not only as a pioneer of innovative production techniques, but also as a symbol of independence, where Optyk’s practice will be put back into the hands of craftsmen and small entrepreneurs who care about the well-being of their clients. The alternative is to leave it in the hands of soulless monopolies and billionaires in shopping malls.
Lenses with melanin, a natural shield for the eye
In addition to an idea for a new operating model for independent opticians, Optilabs also offers an innovative product, i.e. lenses with melanin. Melanin is a pigment that is responsible for the color of skin, hair and irises in humans. However, this dye has primarily a protective function in the body – it protects cells against excessive exposure to UV radiation. Nowadays, this natural protection against blue light is often insufficient due to the constant bombardment of the eye with dangerous ranges of UV radiation emitted by LED lighting, computer screens, TVs and mobile phones. Taking care of them, Optilabs offers its clients protection in the form of melanin lenses.
How are they created?
The organic melanin monomer is literally melted into the lens during its production. This provides eye protection at a very high level – melanin lenses block over 80% of harmful blue light ranges (data source: Isaac Freedman, “Blue Light Special”), protecting cells in the eyeball from UV radiation.
